Thematic development is generally too complex for short pieces. The mass, the oratorio, and the Requiem were the three principal genres of sacred choral music during the Classical era. Mozart's Requiem was performed at the funeral for Martin Luther King jr. False. Because Mozart's Requiem was written so long ago, it has little relevance.

Technology has enabled art music composers to experiment with and change the way that they create music. The above piece, Ionisation, is notable for being the first piece of Western art music composed for percussion alone.

Many Thanks to Mew23 for his excellent contribution! And I want to say thank you to Bernhard and to G (I haven't forgot YOU!). First G than Berhard offered a mp3 version of the fourth LP of this series (see here - go to comments for a list). I shall wait some more time before I resort to it.
